SPARC may be just what you need to ignite a successful business venture in San Juan County

A little rebranding has occurred in Blanding to better reflect the mission of the Utah State University Professional and Technical Education building. The building houses a collection of organizations focused on small business and workforce development within San Juan County.

At the corner of Bronco Drive and E 200 N in Blanding, the building is home to The USU Blanding Small Business Development Center, the Community Incubator and Co-working Space, and the USU Blanding Innovation Center Training. The entire collection will now be called The USU SPARC Building.

SPARC, which stands for Small business, Professional development, Application, Resources and Certification reflects the wide variety of useful resources housed within.

“The ultimate objective of every program in this building is to expand San Juan County’s economic base by increasing the resilience of struggling small businesses and emerging businesses, job creation, and developing skills to have an employed workforce,” said Meghan McFall, director of the USU Blanding SBDC. “We wanted a name that would represent this mission and would last through the years.”

Individuals, emerging startups, and small business owners can take advantage of the many resources housed within the USU SPARC Building, including internet connectivity, desktop and laptop rentals, workshops, training sessions, courses, and more.

The building also has individual workspaces, conference rooms, and a media center. It is designed to fill the varied professional needs of San Juan County.

“The SPARC Building establishes a permanent incubator space that allows for a co-working space or flexible workplace solution away from home with a full-service business center for remote employees, business owners, and San Juan County entrepreneurs,” McFall said.“SPARC incorporates instruction from industry certification, professional development, new skills training, and digital marketing. This includes scaled training opportunities for participants to have entry-level courses and lessons to learn fundamental technical skills.”

The USU SPARC Building can be found at 238 N 100 E in Blanding. More information about the building and the resources housed within it can be found at  this link. https://caas.usu.edu/avte/sbdc
