Rural Online Initiative and USU’s SBDC providing an edge for San Juan County residents.

A remote work seminar is scheduled for next week with Utah State University’s Blanding Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Meghan McFall, director of the SBDC says “Remote work is projected to increase by 25% in the next year and continue to increase each year after that. Our goal is to have San Juan County on the cutting edge of the remote workforce.”

The purpose of the Rural Online Initiative Program is to provide Utah’s rural workforce and businesses with education, training and services for online opportunities in remote employment, freelance work, and e-commerce.

This seminar is for anyone 17 years of age or older but you must have prior work experience. Sponsored by Utah State University Extension, the event will explore your options in work from home opportunities as well as explain some of the skills you should be gaining to make the jump to remote work.

Unemployment and economic shutdowns have created an unusually high level of uncertainty in today’s job market. Risks associated with face to face interactions have made it much more common for workers to explore options that allow for them to work from the safety of their own home.

The seminar is free and is scheduled for Wednesday February 24, 2021 from 6 to 7pm. It is an online event that you can register for in advance at this link. Remote Work Seminar: Tools For Success.
