Utah Governor’s Push Pack Thank You’s
The Governor’s office rolled out the PPE Pushpack almost two weeks ago. Businesses and organizations who enrolled in the program were able to pick up their starter kits on May 15th. In San Juan County Emergency Manager Tammy Gallegos was in charge of distributing the packages. In all 47 San Juan County businesses or organizations participated. 45 of those businesses picked up their Push Packs at the San Juan County Fairgrounds in Monticello.
Two of the participants in the event have checked in with their feedback on the program. Melinda Redd of Jackalope Trading Company in Monticello was one of the first to contact San Juan County about her experience with the Push Packs.
“We are a small local gift shop featuring art, chocolates and other fine gifts. We have been closed since March 21st and we just recently started opening by appointment only. We are asking all of our customers to use hand sanitizer and wear masks to shop with us.” Says Melinda.
She remarks that the Governor’s Push Pack was really helpful in getting the store open for customers to come inside and remains safe from others and to others.
Melinda continues. “It’s really helpful, we have our PPE and our masks near the door, and it’s so that if someone doesn’t have their own mask we can give them a disposable one. It’s really a great help and we have our hand sanitizer here as well right at the entry. The PPE Push Pack has been really helpful.”
Another organization involved in the Governor’s PPE Push Pack was the Canyon Country Discovery Center in Monticello. Ben Muhlstein, Education Coordinator for the CCDC also reached out with his thanks for getting the supplies to them. “Here at the Discovery Center we seek to create lifelong experiences on the Colorado Plateau through adventure education and stewardship. Many of these activities have been closed due to Coronavirus. However we will be able to open soon. Part of the reason we’ve been able to re-open is because of the PPE Push Pack we received. This push pack has given us many of the materials we’ve needed to bring our employees back into the building in a safe way. I feel it will also help us to be safe as we bring the public back into the building.”
Both respondents ended their statements with thank you so sending that thanks to those that deserve it we provide a tip of the hat to Tammy Gallegos, Natalie Freestone, Linda Simmons and David Gallegos for putting together the distribution of these supplies from the Governor’s Office.
Additional PPE’s and reminders in the form of table top cards and posters will be distributed this week in Blanding, Bluff and Monticello as part of the San Juan Strong Promise. This program coordinated between the San Juan County Economic Development and Visitors Services and the San Juan Health Department, will be getting items into the hands of San Juan County businesses and organizations starting today in Blanding and Wednesday in Monticello and Bluff.
