San Juan Strong Promise offering up Covid Tip Tuesday on Facebook

Every Tuesday the San Juan County Economic Development and Visitors Services office takes to Facebook to share a tip and salute a local business for their efforts in making the necessary changes to keep visitors safe during the battle to flatten COVID-19.

In case you aren’t aware of it, the San Juan Strong Promise is a pledge businesses can take to stay up on the safest practices for knocking out  transmission of the virus. San Juan Public Health has put together a toolkit for businesses that includes masks for front facing employees and posters to promote safe practices.

The San Juan Strong Promise is an initiative to let the visitors and customers of county businesses see that a businesses commitment San Juan Public Health has provided this toolkit for businesses so that they can show their commitment to go above & beyond to their customers.

Last week the tip and a tip of the hat went to the Patio Diner in Blanding for their rapid response.

The Blanding mainstay had recently updated their dining room and were ready for a banner year. Now the upgrades seemed for naught. But the night of the state's mandatory shutdown of dining rooms a light bulb went off over owner Lana Arthur’s head. Overnight she implemented delivery for orders in Blanding.

The Patio had already been offering drive thru service and online ordering. Delivery was one way Lana could make up for having to close the dining room during the early days of the state’s restrictions.

Diving into recent applications for positions at the patio, Lana  didn’t have to look far for a dependable teenager with a car that wanted to make some money. Delivery now is a regular feature for the Patio.

In Monticello Blue Mountain Foods didn’t waste time implementing safe practices and they are not slipping back as the numbers rise in other areas of the country. Early hours for seniors and employees making the mask just another part of the uniform were supplemented by wiping down surfaces like the debit card pad and making wipes available to customers to wipe down shopping cart handles. All were just part of making sure they could stay open through the worst of the early restrictions brought on by the pandemic.

These tips on how just two of our local companies reacted to the changes brought on by COVID-19 are featured.  For more ideas, some you may be able to bend to your uses check in with us on Facebook or #SJCCovidTipTuesday #SanJuanStrong
